History of School Names

At the beginning of the school's establishment, it was named SMK Agama Tangok and in 2006 the name of the school was changed to SMK Agama Tok Bachok in conjunction with the name of a famous scholar from the Bachok district.

 

Haji Uthman bin Haji Muhammad (1868 – 1953) or more commonly known as Tok Bachok is one of the leading scholars in the archipelago and a Malay scholar who is responsible for developing the teachings of Islam in the archipelago. He was born in 1860 AD corresponding to 1279 Hijrah in a village which is now known as Kampung Tok Burung.

Tok Bachok is a religious teacher who is of the same generation as Tok Kenali, Tok Selehor, Tok Kemunting, and several other people who are active in religion in Kelantan. Tok Bachok spent 15 years of his life in Mecca to continue his education. He returned to his homeland when he was 40 years old. He then established a cottage school to teach religion. Until now, the remains of the hut can still be seen around the large cemetery of Bachok. He was given the title of Tok Bachok because of his fame in teaching knowledge based on Bachok.

During his lifetime, Tok Bachok was married to several wives, among them Che Membunga (Tok Ji), Hjh Zabidah and Che Embun.

His children are as follows: Yasin (Ustaz Yasin), Che Mariam, Hj Mohd Amin (Baba), Hj Mustaffa, Hj Mohd Zain (the late Tok Ayah Zain), Hj Mohd Nor, Abd Aziz (Pak Jid), Hj Hassan, Hj Hussin, Hj Abd Khir, and Hj Mohd Rashidy.

Passed away

 

On Sunday night, 15 Zulkaedah 1372 equivalent to 27 July 1953, he breathed his last. His remains were buried in his own land which was later dedicated as the Bachok cemetery when he was 93 years old.

History of School Establishment

It is the best religious school with full government support under the administration of the Bachok district education office, located in a rural location and covering an area of ​​75 acres (30.35 hectares).

This school operates for one session with the first intake of students on 1 January 1999 which is a total of 306 consisting of 40 form 4 students and 266 form 1 students.

SMKA Tok Bachok was recognized as a CLUSTER SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE on 22 September 2011. Beginning in 2015, SMKA Tok Bachok became the first school in Kelantan to implement the Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) curriculum for all students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
